Question what anti virus program is the best?

I have been using norton antivirus and i am displeased with the results, it is constantly missing virus it should be picking up. I just downloaded a copy of Kaspersky trial and everytime it picks up something it makes this loud scream noise. Is that normal? What anti virus program you would advise me?

Not all software will have the same databases all of the time.

They constantly add new detection capabilities, and do not share with other companies because they want to rule the roost per say and make more sales off of their "BEST" software over the competitor.

In saying this, it comes down to preference and always run several progies to accomplish a thorough coverage for protection.

Example, I run Zone Alarm Pro Suite
Windows Defender
Search and Destroy

AND from time to time I run online scanners such as trend micros House Call which is as up to date as it can get (daily) as things are found.

I do not like Norton or McAfee, but I am sure there are those that prefer it to Zone, so it comes down to personal preference and running more than one progie for cross coverage per say.

I am sure others would agree with me on this, and yes, I run Zone Alarm Pro Suite, Suite is in itself a multiple platform type program "firewall, virus protection, trogen scanner, worm detection, email sniffer and live monitoring of eMail, site pages in browser, anti phishing etc.) All around damn good progie.

Good Luck - hope this helps a bit

I'm now a big fan of Kaspersky - the noise should be able to be toggled off.

I used Kaspersky too and I have been satisfied with the results until it expired. I don't know really I heard there is no full version copy of it so every time it expires you have to re-DL it again. I'm not sure though. But its really good.^^

I havent had any experiences with Antivirusgolden but you should try Kaspersky, or Nod 32 as your antivirus. I have had better luck with Nod 32 though. But i believe that you will be very pleased with both their performances. There are alot of spyware removers people swear by, but i stick with spybot and adaware (Neither of these programs have ever let me down).
